Startups Use Chatbot For New Normal WFH

The use of chatbot in customer service is growing among startups and SMEs paving the way for a shift to working from home.

Piyapoj Kasempakdeepong, CEO and co-founder at Onionshack Co., Ltd., an artificial intelligence (AI) solution provider for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups, said that SMEs and startups at present save their business operation costs through a use of technology and innovation, especially in coping with the new normal following to the Covid-19 pandemic. Using conversational chatbot equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) for customer service inquiries replacing operators and public relations staffs enhances contactless and lessens risks of personal communication, reduces hiring office employees because more people are changing to work from home. The chatbot technology will allow startups and SMEs to save cost of office rent and other operation cost.

Chatbot can save cost of hiring a telephone operator job up to ten times. Comparing to 15,000 baht salary of a telephone operator, a company can pay only 1,500 baht a month on 24 hour working chatbot. The company thus improve employees’ capabilities by locating them to work other functions.

Piyapoj added that a use of AI-powered smart home is also growing because of more people are sheltering in place. Smart home appliances therefore gain more popularity such as bulb controlling system, temperature controller, air-conditioner and home appliance controllers including home security system that send real-time notification via mobile applications.
