NIA Supports Travel Tech Event

National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) or NIA, in collaboration with Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Siri Ventures and TakeMeTour to hold “Create a New Era of Tourism in Thailand” to promote creation of new innovations in tourism.

TravelTech TakeMeTour, the largest online marketplace for local tours & activities in Thailand and Asean has been supported by TAT, NIA and Siri Ventures to run HackaTravel at the “Create a New Era of Tourism in Thailand” program where contestants can join the Hackathon contest showcasing their magnificent ideas in tourism and digital innovation for the highest prize of 300,000 baht and have a chance to further support by the program partners.

Total 268 applicants joined the program including students and software developers and some 90 people passed the first-round contest based on their skills in technology, online marketing or travelling.  The applicants can choose the topics based on their skills including: 1. Emerging Destination Tourism 2. Tools for Tourism 3. Enabling Seamless Travel Experience and 4. Smart Data.

TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn said the HackaTravel gets the new generations to ready for more challenging competition. The event creates opportunities for startups to access financial sources and advice from experts and have them stand on the same stage. TAT believes in the potential of the new generations.

Krithapaka Boonfueng, NIA deputy director for innovation system said it is a key mission of NIA to drive the innovation development of Thailand by which Startup Thailand supporting the startup ecosystem and enhancing capabilities of travel tech startups. The batch 3 of NIA’s IDE to IPO project aims to create knowledge of business development innovation in hospitality management, offer funding support and conduct the Accelerator in travel tech next year.

Jeerawat Kulsapudom, head of Ecosytem Siri Ventures said the company supports the event as it’s a good opportunity for new generations to have a space for showing their potential and innovative creation.

According to TakeMeTour co-founder, a key goal of this event is to educate entrepreneurs in tourism so that they can handle with any changes and this will also support the new generation to joint-develop ideas for creation of innovations or products.
