Thailand will be the first country in Asia, and second country globally, to receive the new dating feature launching today.

Facebook announces the launch of Facebook Dating in Thailand, making it easier for people to meet and start conversations with others who share the same interests in a safe, easy and controllable way. Facebook Dating is a dedicated feature within the Facebook app, specifically designed to give people full control of their experience looking for a meaningful relationship. People will be able to match with others based on their preferences and interests, through a dedicated Dating profile inside the main Facebook app.

“More than 200 million people have listed themselves as single in their relationship status on Facebook. We view this as an incredible opportunity to continue helping people build relationships in meaningful ways on Facebook. And our goal is to make Facebook the single best place to start a relationship online,” said Nathan Sharp, Product Manager for Facebook Dating. “People in Thailand already use the platform to connect and celebrate relationships, and we are excited to offer them new ways of doing so.”

Facebook Dating has been created uniquely to deliver the best user experience in four key ways: Match with people based on things in common, You manage who can see your Dating profile, Choose to opt-in to Events and Groups to see other daters (who have also opted in), and Enhanced privacy controls.

In addition, Facebook dating was created to offer more controls, including the ability to edit privacy settings so that users can only see people they have no mutual friends with, if they prefer. If anyone feels uncomfortable at any moment, they can always report or block someone.

Dating will be gradually rolled out for Android users in Thailand, starting November 7 and for iOS in coming days. The feature is intended only for people over 18 years old.
