Dtac Selects 11 Teams for Its Accelerate Startup Incubator Program

Startups in fields as diverse as tourism, real estate, healthcare, finance and beauty services are among the 11 teams selected to join Dtac’s startup incubator program.

Sompoat Chansomboon, director of the DTAC Accelerator #6 program, said more than 500 teams applied to the program, now in its sixth year. That number was whittled down to 25 teams who made a direct pitch to mentors. From there the 11 finalists were named.

Various criteria were used to select finalists including “market validation” — which determines if there is a market for the proposed product or service. Teams also were judged on how well they understood the “pain points” of their field and what solutions they would offer. Most importantly, many of the teams had already started implementing modern technological innovations, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

Among the 11 qualifying teams included two in the tourism industry: Kohlife, an online ticketing platform for trains, buses, ferries and airplanes, and PenguinT, an online and mobile application travel agency.

Also selected were Kochii, a platform for gamers to develop their gaming skills; Event Banana, an online platform that helps users book suitable locations for meetings, weddings, exhibitions and conventions; Somjai Home Loan, a one-stop home loan application service; Noburo, a cloud-based banking system that connects small-to-medium financial institutions with fintech services; Ooca, a healthcare app that offers medical consultations via videocall; Doctor A-Z, which connects foreigners in need of medical care to the best clinics and hospitals in Thailand; CareerVisa, an educational mentorship program that helps students prepare for careers and internships; GoWabi, a mobile app that books spa appointments and beauty services at special prices; and Zwiz.AI, which offers chatbots and content management systems across various social media platforms enabling business to connect quickly to customers.

“These 11 startup teams are very diverse, and they all have interesting ideas. They will now join our incubator program with international-level startup gurus, which will speed up their development and growth,” Sompoat said.
