Local travel tech startup “Take Me Tour” is expanding its business by this year, from a one-day tour to absolute travel services.

The new services cover airport pick-up, travel ticketing, luggage pick-up from airport to hotels, according to Noppadol Anukulwitaya, COO and co-founder of Take Me Tour.

“Tourism in Thailand has been rapidly growing along with the change of tourist behavior. They used to plan the trip in advance, but nowadays the last-minute bookings are likely to increase on the platform. A cheaper price of Internet SIM has also encouraged tourism business,” he said.

Travel information becomes easier accessible, so the platform can healthily support the tourism.

The growth of platform is not based on the active users, but the figure of trips that really purchased on Take Me Tour platform. In 2017, there were more than 10,000 purchases with total value of 20 million baht.

In 2018, Noppadol expected there will be 50,000 purchases. The market competition will become more intense due to the expansion to neighboring countries such as Cambodia, Japan, and others. It thus will not be local, but the global competition.

Having been four years of operation, there are challenges in the tourism platform. Initially, it was the language issue. Local tour guides could not communicate, sudden job cancellation of tour guides, missing assembly points, all these have been amended.

Problems have been changed, from one to another.

“However, the challenge today is not the operation, but the matter how we can better understand tourists because they don’t have much time, so when they make decision, it must be the right choice. Among so many options, how to propose the trip that match with their requirement,” Noppadol said.

Take Me Tour is now adopting big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to screen the trips catering for tourists who are from different countries.
