9 finalist teams announced at Tech Plan Demo Day in Thailand 2018

The National Innovation Agency is joining force with Leave a Nest Group (Real-tech seed Accelerator) from Japan, an agency looking for partners in creating businesses from innovation, to organize Tech Plan Demo Day in Thailand 2018 at Innovation Park, NIA.

The event aims to search for winners of Business Plan Pitching competition to represent Thailand to compete further in Singapore at Tech Plan Demo Day in Singapore 2018.

The competition was honored by executives and researchers from organizations and companies as the judges, led by Dr. Yukihiro Maru, Founder and CEO of Leave a Nest Group, Dr. Yutaka Kuroki, Director of Business Development and Strategies at Japan Tobacco Inc., Dr. Natthaporn Takpho, researcher at Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R & D Center, Pte. Ltd., Dr. Nares Damrongchai, Director of Thailand Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS), Mr. Takashi Ando, Technic Director at euglena Co., Ltd., Mr. Vichian Suksoir, NIA Deputy Director of Innovation Development, and Mr. Takashi Ando, executive at FocusTech Ventures Pte. Ltd.

Mr. Vichian Suksoir said the objective of this event, is to promote the development of Thai startups and enhance their efficiency through training and workshops with experts from Thailand and abroad. It opens the opportunity for youths, general public, entrepreneurs as well as civil servants to learn about innovation trend and propose business plans using obtained knowledge to request for supporting fund from organizations or agencies from within Thailand and abroad.

“We are pleased to be the host of Tech Plan Demo Day in Thailand 2018, which is organized for the 3rd time. This time, there were 20 teams of applicants and nine of them have been selected. Our criteria was that they have to porpose business plans that are in line with the industries and serve our targeted businesses too such as tourism industry, herbal health business, unmanned aerial vehicle business, manufacturing industries that based on IoT technology, and food innovation for city dwellers.”

However, this event cannot happen without the support from Leave a Nest Group from Japan relevant business alliances. “We hope that all the contestants will get inspired and financial support to further develop their businesses. I also would like to congratulate the winners who will represent Thailand to join Tech Plan Demo Day in Singapore too. Hopefully this event is a beginning stage of transforming researches to commercialization as NIA also supports the deep tech startups in financial and ecosystem building.”

Dr. Nares Damrongchai, the Director of Thailand Centre of Excellence for Life Science (TCELS), said “Innovation and technology is very important as it can change the world. TCELS is an agency which works on promoting innovation and technology for the manufacturing industries, enabling them to do products from upstream to downstream, that can elevate the living standard of people. Learning about life science is learning about life. Therefore, our main mission is to inspire children and youths as they are important workforce of the country. We also have to push them to international level by giving them opportunity and let them show off their ideas and capabilities as much as possible. We also give them financial support to expand their ideas into business plans and create real jobs in the future. This will be the starting point and enhance potentiality in bringing the growth of Deep Tech startup and make them grow in a sustainable manner in the future.”
