Another arena for startups to show off: Software Park brings 13 businesses to find partners at ConnecTechAsia

6 June 2018 Startups

Besides having killer concepts and problem-solving products, a startup needs a place to show off for entrepreneurs from around the world. Software Park is using the ASEAN-level forum ConnecTechAsia 2018 to promote Thai startups.

Software Park Thailand is a body under the supervision of the National Science and Technology Development Agency. Director Chalermpol Tuchinda said Software Park Thailand’s primary mission is to promote and support Thai software entrepreneurs in every aspect, whether it be personnel, marketing or investment.

This also includes supporting modern technology to develop software that meets the needs of domestic businesses, which will increase the competitiveness of the Thai economy and help grow the domestic software market. This proceeds in parallel with building confidence among foreign software developers who wish to invest in Thailand.

The 13 software startups that Software Park will showcase in its booth at ConnecTech Asia 2018 from June 26-28 are developing solutions for the Internet of Things, mobile phones, e-commerce, enterprise software and virtual reality.

Software Park’s core criteria for selecting entrepreneurs to participate in this event were that the company had to be established in the Thai market for at least a year and have a minimum user base in the thousands. This gives the businesses the credibility that it can scale up to take advantage of future opportunities.

Software Park estimates that technology startups at the Thai booth at this event should generate income of over 30-40 million baht, commensurate with figures obtained from last year’s event. This is because while the principal objective is to find revenue for themselves and their partners, many companies don’t see revenue immediately and have to wait a few years before they can generate income.

ConnecTechAsia incorporates three major tech events showing off the solutions of leading companies worldwide, which are CommunicAsia, BroadcastAsia and NXTAsia, covering telecommunications, media and all kinds of world-changing technology.
