Google holds ‘Demo Day Asia’ to bring together leading Asia-Pacific startups

2 June 2018 Startups

Demo Day Asia is Google’s first foray into organizing events in the Asia-Pacific region. Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai announced the event at the start of last year after seeing many interesting ideas from startups in this region.

Since 2014, startups joining Google’s Demo Day program have raised over US$273 million (8.7 billion baht). Startups looking for a global stage to create business opportunities with leading regional and global investors should not miss Demo Day Asia, scheduled for Sept 20 in Shanghai, China.

Google’s initial criteria for entrepreneurs wanting to participate in Demo Day Asia must be headquartered in Asia, legally registered as corporations and have a minimum investment from VCs of US$50,000.

They must also raise an additional US$1-1.5 million within six months of entering the competition. They must show their dedication to raising capital, growing their revenues and customer base. Most importantly, they must present confidently in English.

If they are selected to join the event, these startups will receive mentoring and training from Google to make better proposals of their business ideas to globally renowned investors.

They also will experience and learn about China’s startup ecosystem joining successful startup founders with other startups. If they can impress investors, besides the capital obtained, they will receive US$100,000 of credit to use the Google Cloud Platform.

If you are an entrepreneur or startup based in the Asia-Pacific region, you can apply to join Demo Day Asia at the website https://events.withgoogle.com/demoday/ from now until July 1, at 23.59 hours (Singapore time).
