Lithium-ion battery innovation is the game changer of the energy business, said EA, a leader in electric vehicles. The company has teamed up with Chulalongkorn University running a research on recycled lithium battery driving Thailand the leader of EV in Asean.

Somphote Ahunai, CEO of Energy Absolute Pcl.  (EA), the leading lithium-ion battery electricity generating and vehicle development company said Thailand is moving toward the energy innovation era so creating its own innovations is essential, especially the innovation of batteries. EA therefore has constructed a lithium-ion battery plant with production capacity of 50 GWh to serve the energy consumption in the future. EA is also the owner of MINE SPA1 electric vehicle and MINE Smart Ferry EV boat.

Amita Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (ATT), a subsidiary manufacturing lithium-ion battery in Thailand, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chulalongkorn University to study the recycled lithium-ion battery which is a strategy investment of battery industry of EA Group which include battery for EV cars and electricity industry, and recycling the lithium-ion battery which will drive Thailand become the first manufacturing base in Asean producing total solutions of lithium-ion battery and EV.

ATT and Chulalongkorn will run a co-research project by which the ATT experts and resources to develop the prototype of electricity discharge system and lithium-ion battery disassembling machine, as well as study the precious metal reusing of battery to pave the way for a total solution recycled battery factory. The result of the three-year project will be applied for the business.

However, the battery industry requires a high technology, long-term development and a support by the government in terms of tax incentives so that Thailand will become a manufacturing base in the region and be able to recover the economy of the country.
