Wallflower Team From Hult Prize At Thammasat Competes At International Stage

Hult Prize Regional Round, the Asia region social business ideas contest has been constantly running. The international competition opens opportunities for students to create social business models that can genuinely generate profits and make changes to society. Based on the theme for the contest “Developing an Idea to Provide Meaningful Jobs to 10 Million Young People within the Next Decade” as to inspire startups to create solutions that solve youth and unemployment problems. The winning team and first runner-up are from Chulalongkorn University (Hult Prize at Chula) and Thammasat University (Hult Prize at Thammasat) were selected to represent Thailand at the contest this year.

During April 4-7, 2019 at Samsung Hall SM Aura, in Manila, Philippines, National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) or NIA and Wallflower team, the first-runner up from Hult Prize at Thammasat participated the event with the project ‘Passion Pool’ – a digital platform that aims to establish networks among youths and SMEs as to widen opportunities for youths to get on-the-job training and part-time jobs. Youths can apply for a job though the platform that uses Big Data and algorithm which will enable them to access the sources of information and link with online educational institutes and private organization that are business alliances of the project.

Wallflower and another 36 international startup teams presented their works and business models by which the winning team is Loveina from New York University (NYU) with its Abu Dhabi. The event helps develop capability and entrepreneurship skill to the Thai talents who also have opportunity to join the international contest and meet with many foreign students who have passion to solve the social problem through the startup business.
