Google brings digital and education apps supporting 705 schools in the South

Google Thailand has partnered with the Ministry of Education to uplift Thai education by bringing digital technology and educational applications (G-Suite for Education) to all electronic devices in order to promote integrated reform of Thai education.

There will also be training for educational personnel to enhance their technology and communication skills which will lead to teacher community for technology learning. The target groups include 705 primary and secondary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission and the Office of the Private Education Commission in the three southern provinces of Thailand. Google is also willing to support the expansion of the project to cover all schools in the southern border provinces. Google will provide educational applications and offer an unlimited data storage service to schools and educational institutions across Thailand without charge. Moreover, Google will support training program for educational personnel in the three southern provinces from September 2018 until March 2019.

Ben King, Country Director, Google Thailand, said Google for Education is Google’s global program that offers educational applications like cloud computing, enhances knowledge, and provides training for educational personnel to equip them with information technology skills that are useful in the management of their institutions and classrooms, as well as promoting a learning community for continuous learning and self-development. “Moreover, we are working with teachers to promote safe use of digital technology among students.”

Currently, Google offers an unlimited data storage service to schools and educational institutions across Thailand free of charge. This cooperation will focus on schools in the three southern provinces. Google staff will provide advice and basic support regarding technology. “Our experts will conduct training on how to integrate applications into online learning in order to ensure that teachers and students are able to use Google Apps for Education by themselves via www.google.com/edu/ and Google+. We will also provide support for Google Educator Group to amplify the impact of the project for sustainability. ”

General Surachet Chaiwong, Deputy Minister of Education, stated  the Ministry of Education is committed to transforming and enhancing the quality of education across the country to meet international standards. Therefore, the Ministry has assigned the Educational Administration and Coordination Center in the Southern Border Provinces to cooperate with Google Thailand on Google for Education training program to improve and enhance the quality of education in schools in the three southern provinces, including Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat.
