Garena drives e-sports for professional athletes

Garena Online (Thailand) Company Limited, a provider of mobile and PC online games, e-sports live-stream broadcast across Southeast Asia and Taiwan, hosted an e-sports tournament “RoV Pro League Season 2 Presented by Truemove H”, aiming to drive e-sports towards professional competitions for e-sports athletes.

The competition ensures qualified and professional e-sports athletes with a high-standard competition guaranteed with monthly salary starting from 50,000 baht/person. The e-sports tournament featured the advanced AR technology is bringing the audiences closer to the action and emotion.

Mr. Allen Hsu, Country Head of Strategic Partnership, Garena Online (Thailand) said, “Thailand’s e-sports industry has been earning a potential growth. The significant movement has been progressed since the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) recognised e-sports as a type of sport and allow the registration of E-sports association. We are able to see e-sports competitions run by public and private sectors with more practical tournaments.

One of the most popular games being held is RoV: Arena of Valor, with over 25 million downloads in Thailand and 300 tournaments organized by a collaborative manner from educational sectors, organizations and business segments. Earlier this year, Garena achieved a great success by hosting “RoV Pro League Season1 presented by TrueMove H” with prizes worth over 5 million baht, 220,000 real time live-streaming audiences and 27 million total views. The event was live-broadcasted via mainstream television channel which was considered as a huge step where eSports was recognized as no different to traditional sport competitions.

RoV Pro League Season2 represents a sequence of the first season’s success. With the sponsorship from Truemove H and strong confidence gained from Thai Yamaha Motor and Thai Oppo Company Limited, we would be able to deliver a completion of greater eSports tournament that empowers our players to evolve as professional athletes.

Additionally, AR technology will be featured in the content representation, creating new excitement and standard for eSports fans with a mixed reality environment built up in the venue. The athletes participated in “RoV Pro League Season 2 by TrueMove H” tournament will be  earning salary starting from 50,000 baht per month throughout the contract period.

RoV Pro League Season 2 Presented by Truemove H is a competition among 8 teams (2 in 3 games), 4 best teams from the first season and another 4 teams were selected from top 2,800 teams nationwide.

Garena eSports Studio, Garena Online (Thailand) Company Limited, will be running the e-sports competition every Monday to Wednesday at 7 p.m., from now to 10th October, 2018. Four Teams with the highest scores will be competing in the Championship round on Saturday, 20th October, 2018 at GMM Live House, Central World.
